Video: al-Qaida in North Africa and elsewhere

May 24, 2009

The Jamestown Institute held a conference on terrorism in December 2008, featuring a number of interesting scholars and US officials. Of particular interest to our readers will be the section on North Africa (AQIM, Algeria, Libyan Jihadism, the Pan-Sahel Initiative, etc), featuring, among others, Camille el-Tawil of al-Hayat, who has written a well-regarded book on the Algerian insurgency. Other interesting speakers include the CIA’s former bin Ladin guy, Michael Scheuer, and great Yemen scholar Gregory Johnsen.

You can, and should, check out all videos from the conference here: Jamestown: The expanding geography of militant Jihad
